Robert Mallia began painting in his teens and has now amassed a body of work spanning more than fifty years. Largely self-taught over this time period, he has saved his most prolific efforts for the past few years when retirement has unburdened him from his “day job.” Extensive travels during Mallia's working years inspired many of his works, which have ranged from the coastlines and mountains of America to Australian landmarks and German castles. Earlier works were in oils, but today he much prefers acrylics, which have reasonably equivalent blending characteristics but afford an ease of preparation that encourages more frequent painting. Viewers of his work tend to comment on the vivid colors and meticulous detail he typically employs. Mr. Mallia displays regularly in the Monthaven Art Society exhibits and in their “Art Around Town” program. He also shows in a number of galleries, including Gallery on the Square in Franklin, Kentucky. Robert resides in White House, TN, with his wife Maureen.
