Jimmie Roberson, originally from Alabama, lives in Hendersonville with her husband, Philip. She currently studies with Charles Brindley, a nationally known artist who teaches at Hendersonville Arts Council and at University School of Nashville. She has also studied portraiture with Christine Pilkinton, and watercolor with Jean Parker and Harriet Parrish, all local Tennessee Artists. She participates in an art class at her church. In addition, she has taken workshops with such noted artists as Michael Shane Neal, Dawn Whitelaw, and Igor Babailov. Neal won the Portrait Society's 2001 International Portrait Competition. Whitelaw is a former Lipscomb University art instructor who is nationally known. Babailov is the internationally known portrait and figurative Russian artist who has painted popes and presidents, as well as many celebrities. Ms. Roberson paints realistically in the tradition of the Old Masters and has taken oils as her medium of choice. She paints still lifes, landscapes, and is especially gifted in rendering portraits with personality and charm.
