Dolores Ateca is a native of Queens, New York, but she has called Tennessee home for the last eighteen years. Her love of art began early in childhood… she was always dabbling in various creative forms whenever time would allow. Frequently, other parts of her life required her time and took her away from her beloved art. In 1999, Dolores began to study under the mentorship of renowned artist, Charles Brindley. She became a serious student of graphite drawing and also painting on paper. Then came her study of oils on canvas, with subjects that both inspire and challenge her. Most recently she has undertaken portraiture using pastels. Ateca has been a member of Monthaven Art Society in Hendersonville since 1999, serving on the Board for a number of years. She has routinely exhibited in their shows, as well as in various other venues in the Hendersonville and Gallatin area.
