Amanda “Peach” McComb, a native of Massachusetts, now lives in Old Hickory, Tennessee. She juggles an extremely busy career in computer technology with her second career as an artist. She began painting seriously in 2005 after participating in several workshops. Her first teacher and mentor, Mary Field Neville, has had a strong influence on her work. Other instructors have been Mary Whyte, Jan Batts,, Edie Maney, Charles Gruppé, and Roger Dale Brown.
Peach paints a broad range of subjects, from landscapes and seascapes to florals and abstracts. She works in both realistic and non-representational styles. She obviously finds great joy in her work, which translates to the charming, painterly quality of her pieces. She refers to painting as "yoga for the mind."
Ms. McComb’s first one-person show opened July 3, 2010 at Tennessee Art League, 808 Broadway. She usually has two new shows each year, in addition to holding membership and exhibiting with the Tennessee Art League, The Chestnut Group of Plein Aire painters, Studio A Artist Group, Tennessee Watercolor Society, and Monthaven Art Society.
McComb is considered the resident artist for the Administrative Office of the Courts in Nashville and has several pieces hanging in the reception area. A number of her works are in private collections in California, Colorado, Massachusetts, and Tennessee.
Ms. McComb paints mostly by commission.
