Michael Gustafson has been a professional photographer for over twenty years, concentrating on commercial product and portraiture. He holds an Associates Degree in Photography from the Community College of Denver. He has been strongly influenced by Ansel Adams, Edward Weston, Brett Weston, and especially Eliot Porter. In their footsteps, he continues his pursuit of landscapes and the outdoors.
Michael and his wife, Wendy, own Woodland Gallery at 126 Powell Drive, Hendersonville, where they offer his photographic prints of the landscape and nature of Hendersonville, Old Hickory Lake, Sumner County, and Tennessee. The Gallery also features pottery, turned wood, jewelry and slumped glass, plus a schedule of workshops on pottery and photography.
Gustafson also has a photography studio at the same location under the name of M.G. Photography. He joined the digital revolution in 1997, at the vanguard of his commercial field. He continues product photography, but especially enjoys capturing fine portraits either in his studio or at any outdoor location.
As a Christian, Michael enjoys time alone in fellowship with the Creator. In the quiet and beauty of the natural world, he captures especially inspiring images. Growing up in the Boy Scouts made its mark on him, and he often rises well before dawn, heeding the 'Call of the Wild.' If there were a bumper sticker to describe his passion, he says it would read "Warning: Morning Person, I chase the Sunrise."
