Mary grew up in Mississippi and Tennessee.  Her family owned and operated a farm for many years before relocating to Memphis, TN.   Life in the country instilled an appreciation and love for the land.  Fields of corn, soybeans, cotton and vegetables provided food for the animals as well as the family.  Mary said, “There’s so much beauty in simple things;   a clean fence row, a freshly plowed field, old-fashioned flowers, and watching cows grazing on the side of a hill.”  She travels back several times a year to check on the farm and enjoy the quiet beauty of the old homestead.

Mary has traveled to many states and several countries.  Many of her paintings reflect her love of travel. She is inspired by the unique differences, as well as the sameness found in people from different parts of the world.  A trip to the Louvre in Paris, France, gave her the opportunity to see the Mona Lisa and many other equally famous paintings.  Art galleries and museums are favorite places to study the works of the old masters.

Mary has studied with Charles Brindley, Gail Mcdaniel, Christy Pilkinton, Joel Knapp, Jean Gauld - Jaeger, and John Cannon.  She exhibits at Tennessee Art League,  Monthaven Art Society, and "Studio A" Group  (second floor of Tennessee Art League).

She is a member of Tennessee Art League, Monthaven Art Society, The Chestnut Group, and the Portrait Society of America.

Commissions accepted for portraits and landscapes.
