Gayle Jones grew up in Marshall, TX.  She has traveled and lived pretty much all over the world before settling in Nashville to be near grandchildren.

From childhood on, Gayle has always been involved in some form of art, from working in pastels with her mother, to doing pencil drawings of any friend who would sit still.  She even tried abstract acrylics in the 1970s.  She is a highly skilled quilter, a Master Gardener, and a continuous knitter, often contriving her own pattern variations.  Check out her hand-knitted socks in winter!  But most impressive of all is her skill at the organ.  Gayle holds a Masters degree in Music from Marshall University.  To hear for yourself, click here.

After Gayle and husband, Robert, moved to Nashville, she made the decision that watercolors would be her next challenge.  That was in 2005.  She found a teacher and a great group of artists to paint with on a weekly basis.  That group is still painting together, encouraging, critiquing, and inspiring each other.

Jones' favorite thing to paint is portraits.  She says, "It is so exciting to see a face come to life."  She is also especially skilled in portraying buildings and flowers.  She carries her small paintbox and paper whenever she travels, as she is fast becoming a plein air painter, at the urging of friends.

Ms. Jones is a member of Monthaven Art Society and Tennessee Watercolor Society.  She has exhibited artwork at Brentwood United Methodist Church, Brentwood Library, Green Hills Library, Trousdale County Fair, and Monthaven Gallery in Hendersonville.
